Diagnosis
Clogged or defective water inlet valves. Over time, sediment and mineral scale from your water supply block the small screens inside the valves.
How to Fix It
Clean or replace the inlet valve screens.
1. Unplug the washer and turn off both hot and cold water supply valves at the wall.
2. Disconnect the fill hoses from the back of the machine. Have towels ready for drips.
3. Remove the rear access panel or top cabinet to access the water inlet valve (where the hoses connect on the machine).
4. The valve has two small plastic housings (one for hot, one for cold). Each has a fine mesh screen.
5. Carefully remove these screens with needle-nose pliers. Soak them in vinegar to dissolve scale, then rinse and gently scrub clean.
6. Reinstall the screens, reconnect hoses, turn water back on slowly, and check for leaks before restoring power.
If That Didn't Work
If cleaning the screens doesn't restore flow, the solenoid coils in the inlet valve assembly itself may be failing. The entire inlet valve assembly (part #WPW10124057) is a relatively inexpensive and easy swap.
Heads Up
Always install the hoses with the rubber washer in place and hand-tighten plus a quarter-turn with pliers. Over-tightening can crack the plastic valve housing. Consider adding inline water filters to your hoses to prevent future clogs.
