how do you clean the filter on a dyson ball animal 2? mine's lost all suction

— asked by Alex

Loss of suction almost always means the filters need washing. Your machine has two filters that need regular cleaning.

Fix: Unplug the vacuum first. Let's wash both filters.

  1. Filter A (in the bin handle): Press the button on the bin handle to detach the bin. Push up the catch on the front of the bin handle and lift the filter out. Hold it under cold running tap water until the water runs clear. Don't use soap. Turn it upside down, tap out water, then squeeze and twist with both hands to remove excess.
  2. Filter B (in the ball): Lay the machine on its side with the filter cover up. Turn the lock in the center of the ball to release the cover. Twist the filter counter-clockwise to remove it. Wash it in cold water in a rotating motion until the water runs clear. Tap to remove excess water.
Drying is critical: Leave both filters to dry for at least 24 hours in a warm, well-ventilated spot. Do not use a tumble dryer, microwave, or place near heat.

If that didn't work: With the filters out, check for blockages in the now-empty filter chambers and all airways. Also empty the bin if it's above the MAX line.

Heads up: You must wait the full 24 hours for the filters to be bone dry. Using the machine with a damp filter can cause serious damage.
