Diagnosis
Odor is trapped in the silicone sealing ring (gasket) seated in the blade assembly. Liquid and pulp seep under it during blending.
How to Fix It
You must disassemble the blade unit.
- Unscrew the blade assembly from the pitcher bottom.
- Pry the gray silicone gasket out of its channel carefully with a dull butter knife or your fingernail.
- Wash the gasket, blade, and plastic housing separately in hot, soapy water.
- Let all parts air-dry completely before reassembling. Ensure the gasket is seated evenly.
If That Didn't Work
For persistent smells, soak the gasket for 30 minutes in a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and warm water, then rinse. Baking soda paste also works.
Heads Up
Never reassemble the blade unit while the gasket is wet or misaligned. It will leak from the bottom of the pitcher during the next blend.
