Diagnosis
The brushroll drive belt is disengaged or broken. On new units, the belt is often shipped disconnected for safety.
How to Fix It
1. Ensure the vacuum is unplugged. Flip it over.
2. Remove the soleplate by pressing the two release tabs.
3. Locate the gray stretch belt connecting the motor drive pulley to the brushroll.
4. If it's loose or off, loop it over the brushroll first, then stretch it onto the motor drive pulley.
5. Replace the belt if it appears stretched, glazed, or cracked.
If That Didn't Work
Check the brushroll on/off switch or pedal on the handle. If it's in the 'off' position, the brushroll motor will not receive power. Engage it.
Heads Up
Never handle or replace the drive belt with the vacuum plugged in. The brushroll can engage unexpectedly.
