Diagnosis
Nozzle height selector malfunction. The adjustment lever is stuck in the 'Low' carpet setting, preventing the floor nozzle from pivoting freely on hard floors.
How to Fix It
Locate the nozzle height selector lever on the foot of the vacuum. It has two positions: 'Low' (for carpet) and 'High' (for bare floors). Ensure the lever is fully slid to the 'High' position. While pulling the vacuum back, apply slight downward pressure on the handle. This helps the nozzle pivot correctly.
If That Didn't Work
Debris is jammed in the pivot mechanism. Turn the vacuum over. Manually work the nozzle up and down while clearing any string, hair, or carpet fibers wrapped around the pivot axle.
Heads Up
Using the 'Low' setting on hard floors creates excessive drag and can prematurely wear out the brush roll and belt. Always select the correct height.
