suction feels really weak on my eureka even with an empty canister, barely picks anything up

— asked by Jordan

Quick answer: Systemic airflow blockage. The vacuum is losing suction due to a clog in the airflow path or a filter issue.

Diagnosis

Systemic airflow blockage. The vacuum is losing suction due to a clog in the airflow path or a filter issue.

How to Fix It

Follow the airflow path. 1. Empty the dirt canister. 2. Remove and wash the foam filter (let dry 24 hours). 3. Check the hose connection at the base of the handle for debris. 4. Detach the hose and check both ends and the interior for clogs. 5. Inspect the inlet where the hose connects to the dirt canister port.

If That Didn't Work

The secondary felt filter behind the foam filter may be saturated. Remove and gently tap it clean. Do not wash it. If damaged or excessively dirty, replace filter part #0487F.

Heads Up

Running the vacuum without both filters installed will cause immediate and severe damage to the motor. Ensure filters are completely dry and correctly seated.
