This is most commonly triggered by an internal short circuit, a failed cell within the battery pack, or an extreme overheating event caused by a total airflow restriction. If the vacuum was working normally and suddenly shut down during a high-power "Boost" mode session, the BMS has likely tripped a thermal fuse. However, if the red light appears immediately upon pressing the trigger despite a full charge, the battery's internal circuitry has likely failed. You can confirm this by removing the Torque Drive cleaner head and attempting to run the motor "naked"; if the red light persists without any attachments, the issue is isolated to the battery pack or the main trigger switch assembly rather than a clog in the wand.
How to Fix It
Follow these precise steps to reset the system and clear potential airflow triggers that may be mimicking a hardware fault:
- Power down the unit and remove the battery pack. Use a coin or a screwdriver to turn the three screws (one behind the filter, two at the base of the handle) to fully detach the battery from the chassis.
- Perform a "Deep Clear" of the airway. Remove the wand and the Torque Drive head. Look inside the intake port of the main body; use a flashlight to check for trapped debris (like coins or large clumps of hair) wedged in the inlet valve.
- Empty the clear bin completely. Press the red release bin button and ensure the internal shroud—the metal mesh screen—is completely clear of dust and hair. If the shroud is coated in fine dust, the motor will overheat in seconds.
- Remove the purple pre-filter from the top of the unit. Wash it under cold water until the runoff is clear, then leave it to dry for a full 24 hours. A damp filter creates massive air resistance, triggering the red light.
- Reinstall the battery pack, ensuring the gold contact pins are clean and free of debris. Tighten the screws firmly but do not over-torque them, as the plastic housing can crack.

If That Didn't Work

- Never use the vacuum on "Boost" mode for extended periods; this mode generates extreme heat and is the primary cause of premature battery failure and red-light shutdowns.
- Only wash the filter with cold water. Never put the filter in a microwave or dryer, as the heat will warp the seals and allow dust to enter the motor, causing a permanent red light failure.
- Ensure the battery is charged in a room with a stable temperature (above 41°F / 5°C). Charging a frozen battery can damage the cells and trigger a permanent fault light.
- Check the "max" line on your bin. Running the bin to the absolute brim restricts the cyclone's efficiency, forcing the motor to work harder and run hotter.
