Diagnosis
The unit is overheating and triggering its thermal safety cut-off. This is usually due to blocked ventilation or a faulty internal temperature sensor.
How to Fix It
- Check ventilation immediately. Ensure there is at least 4 inches of clear space on all sides, especially the back where the main vent is. Never operate it under a cabinet.
- Clean the rear vent grille with a soft brush or vacuum attachment to remove dust and grease buildup.
- Ensure the drip tray is empty and correctly inserted. An overfull tray can trap excessive heat underneath the unit.
If That Didn't Work
The problem may be internal. If it shuts off even with perfect ventilation and light loads, the thermal fuse or control board is likely failing and requires professional repair.
Heads Up
This is a critical safety feature. Do not bypass it or use the grill in an enclosed space. Continuous thermal shutdowns will stress the electrical components and are a sign of a developing fault.
