The Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge utilizes a circular chassis, which creates a geometric impossibility when attempting to clean 90-degree corners. The "gap" you are seeing is the result of the robot's physical radius preventing the main suction intake from reaching the vertex of the corner. While the side brush is designed to extend beyond the body of the vacuum to flick debris inward, several factors can degrade this performance. Most commonly, the gap occurs because the side brush bristles have become splayed or worn down, reducing their effective reach. Additionally, if the robot is operating in a low-suction mode, the airflow is insufficient to pull the debris that the side brush has flicked toward the center. You can confirm if this is a mechanical failure or a design limitation by placing a small amount of flour in a corner; if the side brush spins but the flour remains in the absolute corner, it is a reach limitation. If the brush doesn't touch the flour at all, the brush is worn or the motor is slipping.
How to Fix It
To maximize the edge-cleaning capabilities of the G30 Edge, follow these precise optimization steps:
- Inspect and Reset the Side Brush: Flip the robot over and locate the side brush. If the bristles are bent outward or tangled with hair, use a pair of scissors to carefully trim away hair wraps. If the bristles are permanently splayed, replace the brush (Part No. G30-SB). Ensure the brush is pressed firmly onto the drive shaft until you hear a click.
- Activate Max Suction: Do not rely on the default "Quiet" or "Standard" modes for edges. Press the "Clean" button on the top of the unit or use the EufyHome app to toggle the suction to "Max." This increases the CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air moving through the intake, allowing it to pull debris from a further distance.
- Enable BoostIQ: Ensure BoostIQ is toggled ON in the app settings. BoostIQ uses the onboard sensors to detect carpet or high-debris areas and automatically ramps up the motor speed, which is critical when the robot transitions from a floor to a baseboard edge.
- Clear Baseboard Obstructions: Remove any loose rugs or thin door mats that sit flush against the wall. The G30 Edge's side-wall sensors can sometimes trigger a "collision" response too early if it hits a thick rug edge, causing the robot to pivot away from the wall before the side brush has finished its sweep.
If That Didn't Work
- Deep Clean the Main Brush Roll: If the side brush is flicking debris inward but the floor remains dirty, the main brush roll is likely saturated with hair. Remove the brush roll cover and use the included cleaning tool to remove all hair from the end bearings. A clogged brush roll reduces the "pull" from the edges.
- Check the HEPA Filter Seal: A clogged or improperly seated filter reduces overall suction power. Remove the dustbin, take out the HEPA filter, and tap it against a hard surface to remove fine dust. Ensure the filter is seated perfectly flush in its housing; even a 1mm gap will cause a loss of suction at the edges.
- Adjust Furniture Placement: If the gap is occurring consistently in one area, check for "invisible" barriers like low-profile furniture legs or cable runs. The G30 Edge will avoid these obstacles, creating a "dead zone" where it refuses to approach the wall.
- Perform a Hard Reset: If the robot seems to be "skipping" edges rather than just missing the corners, hold the power button for 10 seconds to reset the logic board. This can recalibrate the bumper sensors to ensure it is riding the wall as closely as possible.
Heads Up
- Bristle Maintenance: Side brushes are consumables. If you notice the bristles are no longer "stiff," replace them every 3-6 months to maintain edge reach.
- Avoid Wet Debris: Never use the G30 Edge on damp floors. Wet dust clumps to the side brush, causing it to lose its flicking motion and leave streaks along the edges.
- Dustbin Capacity: Empty the dustbin when it is 75% full. A nearly full bin restricts airflow, which is most noticeable at the furthest points of the suction path (the edges).
- Corner Strategy: Accept that no round robot can clean a 90-degree corner perfectly. For high-traffic corners, a quick 5-second pass with a handheld vacuum once a week is the only way to achieve a 100% clean.
