Diagnosis
The Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge relies on a combination of laser-based mapping and infrared signals to navigate. When the robot "gets lost," it is usually because the internal spatial map has become desynchronized from the physical environment. This typically happens if the robot was manually picked up and moved during a cleaning cycle, or if it encountered a "trap" (like a small bathroom or a cluster of chair legs) that caused it to lose its orientation relative to the charging dock's beacon. Furthermore, the G30 Edge requires a clear line of sight to the infrared signal emitted by the HomeBase. If the charging base has shifted even an inch, or if a new piece of furniture or a hanging curtain is obstructing the signal, the robot may reach the general vicinity of the dock but fail to "lock on" to the infrared beam, causing it to spin in circles or wander aimlessly until the battery dies. You can confirm this by observing the robot: if it reaches the dock but fails to align perfectly before turning away, it is a signal interference issue; if it wanders to a completely different room, it is a mapping failure.
How to Fix It
To recalibrate the internal map and restore the docking sequence, follow these precise steps:
- Clear the Perimeter: Ensure there is a minimum of 1.6 feet (50 cm) of clear space on both sides of the HomeBase and 5 feet (1.5 meters) of unobstructed space directly in front of it. Remove any rugs or cables that might be causing the robot to bump and shift the base.
- Hard Reset the Dock: Unplug the HomeBase from the wall outlet, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. This clears any static buildup in the infrared emitter.
- Manual Docking: Pick up the G30 Edge and manually place it onto the charging pins. Ensure the charging indicator light is solid, confirming a full connection.
- Full Charge Cycle: Let the robot charge to 100%. Starting a recalibration run with a low battery often leads to failure because the robot prioritizes power saving over precise mapping.
- The Physical Trigger: Do not start the cleaning via the EufyHome app. Instead, press the physical "AUTO" button located on the top of the robot. This forces the robot to initialize its current position as the "Home" coordinate.
- Uninterrupted Run: Allow the robot to complete one full cleaning cycle of the entire floor. Do not intervene, do not move it, and do not pause the session. The robot must return to the dock on its own to successfully "save" the updated map coordinates.
If That Didn't Work
- Clean the Infrared Sensors: Use a dry microfiber cloth or a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of isopropyl alcohol (70%) to clean the two infrared receiver windows on the front bumper of the robot and the emitter window on the HomeBase. Dust buildup here mimics a "blind spot," preventing the robot from seeing the dock.
- Check for "Invisible" Barriers: Dark-colored rugs or black floor tiles can absorb the laser/infrared signals, tricking the G30 Edge into thinking there is a cliff or a wall where none exists. Try placing a light-colored mat in front of the dock to see if the robot successfully locks on.
- Relocate the Base: Move the HomeBase to a different wall in the same room, ensuring it is flush against a flat surface. If the base is leaning forward or backward even slightly, the infrared beam will point toward the ceiling or floor instead of the robot's sensors.
- Factory Reset: If the mapping is completely corrupted, perform a factory reset. Power the unit on, then hold the "AUTO" button for 10-15 seconds until the lights flash. This wipes the saved map and forces the G30 Edge to treat the environment as a brand new space.

- Avoid Manual Relocation: Never pick up the robot and move it to another room while it is in the middle of a cleaning cycle; this is the primary cause of mapping disorientation.
- Mirror Warning: Floor-length mirrors or highly reflective chrome furniture can bounce the laser signals, creating "phantom rooms" in the map that confuse the return-to-base logic.
- Pin Maintenance: Every 30 days, wipe the metallic charging contacts on both the bottom of the robot and the HomeBase to prevent oxidation, which can cause the robot to think it isn't docked even when it is.
- Firmware Updates: Check the EufyHome app for firmware updates. Navigation logic improvements are frequently released to fix "lost robot" bugs in the G-series line.
