A weird noise often means the filter is clogged and needs washing. There are two filters: a Pre-filter on top of the cyclone and a Post-filter behind the handle. Both need to be completely dry before you put them back.
- Pre-filter: Lift it out of the top of the cyclone. Hold it under a running tap until the water runs clear. Turn it upside down, tap out water. Squeeze and twist with both hands to remove excess water. Let it dry for at least 24 hours in a warm, well-ventilated place. Do not use a tumble dryer or heat source.
- Post-filter: Twist it anti-clockwise and pull it off the back. Wash the inside under cold running water, rotating it, until the water runs clear. Shake it firmly until no more water comes out. Let it dry for at least 24 hours, open end facing up.
- Before refitting, ensure both filters are 100% dry. Damaging the machine by using a damp filter is a common, expensive mistake.
- Refit the Pre-filter by aligning the arrow with the bin release button and pushing down. Refit the Post-filter by placing it on and twisting clockwise until it clicks.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The noise could be from an overfull bin. Empty it as soon as dirt reaches the top mark. Using it overfilled requires more frequent filter washing.
