my dyson ball animal 2 vacuum won't turn on, what gives?

— asked by Mike

First, check for a full blockage. The machine will automatically cut out if any part is blocked. Unplug it and let it cool.

  1. Start with the main hose and wand. Open the cap on the handle and slide the wand up to release both. Press the button on the end of the hose to release the wand and look through it for blockages.
  2. Remove the cleaner head. Lay the machine on its back, push down the red button on the bottom of the ball, and slide the cleaner head off. Check for blockages in the airway.
  3. Check the hose itself. Remove the bin by pressing the button on its handle, then press the tab on the base of the hose to remove it from the machine. Clear any debris.

If that didn't work, the filter is likely soaked. You must wash the filters at least monthly, but they need 24 hours to dry completely in a warm, ventilated place. Using the machine with a damp filter can damage it.

Heads up: Always unplug before checking for blockages. Be careful of sharp objects when clearing debris.
