This friction increases the torque requirement beyond the motor's capacity, leading to a high-pitched grinding sound as the motor attempts to spin the axle against the blockage. In many cases, the debris doesn't just wrap around the brush bar itself but migrates into the side bearings or the drive gear assembly. If the brush bar has completely stopped spinning, the vacuum's internal circuit breaker has likely triggered a "motor cut-out" to prevent the small DC motor inside the tool head from overheating or burning out. You can confirm this by checking if the tool works momentarily when you manually flick the brush bar with your finger; if it spins for a second and then stops with a groan, the issue is definitely an overload of debris.
How to Fix It
To resolve this, you must perform a deep clean of the brush bar assembly to remove all binding materials.
