shark app says my detect pro is offline even though the wifi router is right there

— asked by Jamie

Quick answer: The robot cannot maintain a connection to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Dual-band networks or certain router security settings often cause this.

Diagnosis

The robot cannot maintain a connection to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Dual-band networks or certain router security settings often cause this.

How to Fix It

First, ensure your phone is connected to the 2.4 GHz band, not 5 GHz. In the router settings, temporarily disable WPA3 security or any 'Smart Connect' band steering. Set up a separate 2.4 GHz network with WPA2 security for the robot. Re-run the app setup.

If That Didn't Work

The robot's Wi-Fi module may need a reset. Hold the DOCK and MAX buttons on the robot for 10 seconds until it beeps. This resets network settings without deleting maps.

Heads Up

The Shark Detect Pro does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi. It must connect to a 2.4 GHz network.
