the robot keeps getting stuck under my kitchen chairs or sofa, says 'trapped' in the app

— asked by Sam

Quick answer: The robot's bumper is triggering because it's physically wedging itself into a space its LiDAR thinks it can fit through, but its body cannot.

Diagnosis

The robot's bumper is triggering because it's physically wedging itself into a space its LiDAR thinks it can fit through, but its body cannot.

How to Fix It

  • Create a No-Go Zone in the app. Draw a rectangle or polygon around the problematic furniture that extends about 20cm beyond its legs.
  • Increase the 'Collision Sensitivity' in the robot settings (under 'Detection Settings'). A higher setting makes the bumper more sensitive, causing it to avoid light contact sooner.
  • For sofas/chairs with a low clearance skirt, create a Keep-Out Zone, or physically block the gap with a simple barrier.

If That Didn't Work

The bumper might be misaligned. Press gently around the edges of the front bumper to see if it's loose or clicks. If so, it may need reseating or replacement.

Heads Up

The robot's physical shape includes the bumper. It needs more clearance than the LiDAR scan indicates. Always map your home with the furniture in its normal position.
