Diagnosis
This is almost always a router compatibility issue, specifically with the 2.4GHz band. The robot's wifi module goes into a low-power sleep state and fails to reconnect reliably.
How to Fix It
- On your router, ensure the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks have separate names (SSIDs). The robot can only connect to 2.4GHz and gets confused by dual-band networks with the same name.
- Move your router or the dock to improve signal strength. Concrete walls or distance are common culprits.
- In your router settings, try switching the 2.4GHz channel to 1, 6, or 11 to avoid interference from neighbors.
If That Didn't Work
A router firmware update or a simple restart of your router can resolve handshake issues. As a last resort, forget the network on the robot and set it up again from scratch in the app.
Heads Up
Mesh network systems can sometimes cause problems if nodes switch. Try connecting the robot to the primary mesh node. The L40 does not support WPA3 enterprise or hidden SSIDs—use WPA2 with a broadcast network name.
