DIAGNOSIS Pooled water is typically caused by a blocked or misrouted defrost drain tube, not a refrigerant leak. Condensation from normal operation is not draining.
FIX Unplug and empty the unit. Locate the drain hole at the back of the interior, near the bottom. Use a turkey baster to flush warm water down the drain to clear any clog. Use a long, flexible pipe cleaner to gently probe the drain channel.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The drain pan underneath the compressor may be cracked or misaligned. This requires unplugging the unit, carefully tilting it back, and inspecting the black plastic pan. A cracked pan must be replaced.
HEADS UP Do not use compressed air or wire hangers to clear the drain. You can puncture the evaporator coil. Regularly check that bottles are not leaking, as sugar-based liquids will clog the drain and attract insects.
